If your dog is out on the trails with you - proper trails, varied terrain, long days - their paws need the same consideration as your feet. The Grip Trex are Ruffwear's benchmark boot: a Vibram outsole designed in-house for flexible traction on everything from rock to root, with a breathable mesh upper that keeps air moving and debris out.
The hook-and-loop cinch closure wraps around the narrowest part of the leg and holds its grip even when wet. Worth checking the fit again about 15 minutes in - boots settle as your dog moves, and a quick adjustment makes all the difference to how they wear them.
Reflective trim adds visibility in low light. Gusset opening makes them easier to get on and off. Once your dog is used to them, they'll barely notice they're wearing them.

New to dog boots? Work the sole in your hands first to soften it, then start with short sessions indoors before heading outside. The boot dance - the shaking, the high-stepping - is completely normal. Keep it positive, use treats, and build up gradually. They'll get there.

"Bought for my 13yr old Akita Inu. She tore a cruciate ligament last year and had TPLO surgery to repair it. Since then her leg has not been properly aligned and she is wearing down her nails on her back feet. These boots do seem to help a little on tarmac, however she struggles to walk on grass when she's wearing them. They stay on quite well, but at times seem to slip round a little on the soles causing her to trip. However she seems happy enough to wear them."

"We purchased these boots for our 16 year old saluki-collie cross dog. He has an undiagnosable neurological condition resulting in a “movement disorder” causing tremors, stumbling, falling and his hind legs are progressively weakening and collapsing. We have a lot of wooden floors which he finds particularly difficult to negotiate and as his condition has worsened he finds it difficult to stay on his feet often ending up splayed on the floor. We have tried a couple of types of boots but they rapidly ended up flapping off the end of his feet before falling off. After searching on the internet we purchased a pair of Grip Trex boots for his hind legs together with the liner socks. The measuring guidance and sizing is spot on and the fit is superb. These boots stay put despite foot dragging, trips and stumbling inside and out, on wooden and carpeted floors, walking, running and turning. He is happy for the boots to go on and there is none of the foot shaking we’ve seen before when he’s been trying to get a boot off. They give our dog a sense of stability and confidence that he just didn’t have any more and give his front legs much-needed assistance when pulling up from lying down. The service from Barks & Bunnies was brilliant with the boots arriving very quickly. I cannot recommend Grip Trex boots highly enough, definitely value for money and a life-changing product for our beautiful old boy."
